THE STORY

Hello, and welcome to the Commonwealth of Elmwood! This is a monster-friendly haven, built especially for those creatures that are normally shunned by the human world! Please, feel free to step right in!

The Purpose

For generations, peaceful, monstrous creatures have been unfairly persecuted against by humanity. Knowing this, the founders of the Commonwealth of Elmwood built a town catering especially to the needs and well-being of their fellow monstrous companions, in the hope that those who cannot find acceptance elsewhere can find it here.

The Rules

This is a town, and as such, we do have general laws that are enforced by our lawmen, as well as our representative of the judicial system, Cerbearus Jack. Most of the laws are common sense, but in case they need repeating, we will go through them here.

1. No public lewd acts. This is a town, not a brothel.
2. Please be respectful of your neighbors. Acts of vandalism, property damage, unsolicited attacks, and theft will be dealt with, to the utmost extent of the law.
3. Any humans you bring into the town are your responsibility. If they are caught breaking laws, you will be punished as well.
4. No killing of a character without the permission of the owner. Failure to comply with this law can result in a kick or a ban.
5. The mayor and the town council reserve the right to add to these rules at any time.

The Town

The Commonwealth of Elmwood is located in a remote valley nestled between mountain ranges. A single road, Interstate 6, runs through the town, becoming one half of Main Street for the duration of the town's limits. Most of the homes and businesses were built in the 20s and 30s, giving the town an old fashioned look. The town is slowly being renovated. For over thirty years the buildings have stood empty, and the new inhabitants have their hands full making the buildings habitable. Currently most buildings that are in use face main street, though more and more buildings are being cleared and cleaned every day.  Running between Main Street and Interstate 6, a canal runs through the town, providing easy access to a nearby lake which supplies the town with fresh water. Bridges are frequent over the water, connecting the two halves of the street.

Humans

Humans are allowed, as long as they are under the protection of a monster. Humans that are under such protection are referred to as Vassals, and though they can enter and exit the town freely, any actions that they take against a monster are also reflected against the one protecting them. (Don't bring a vampire hunter when half the population is vampires.) Any humans who come into the room and aren't claimed by a monster currently inside, or are declared in PM by their Vassal monster, will be kicked.

Becoming a Citizen

We welcome all monstrous characters, with few limitations.

The entire reason for creating this town was to allow for creatures that can't fit into other, more standard cities, to have a place of their own. If your character is, for example, 1/4th vampire, looks completely human, and doesn't drink blood unless they feel like it, they most likely will not be accepted as a full citizen of Elmwood. We do accept full and half breeds, but the easier it is for your character to fit into human society, the harder it will be to be accepted as a full citizen of ours.

Humans cannot become citizens.
